We've Got a New Look
Last summer I took Holly Becker’s Instapower workshop to learn more about using Instagram for business. I was really inspired by one of the very first lessons--developing your brand. As we worked through the steps of the lesson it turns out we were doing much more than developing our brand; we were writing our mission statement. The upshot of the exercise was I could see that my website and logo were not really projecting this revised version of my brand. I realized I was probably sending a confusing message. There was work to do.
Enter Erica Braden of Harper Gray Design Co., a designer I met on Instagram. I got in touch with her to help me create a new brand for my studio. After asking a few questions and signing the contract we jumped right in. For the first step in the design process I had to complete a questionnaire. Going through the questions and that thought process really helped us translate my mission statement into a new brand. Along with the questionnaire was an assignment to create a Pinterest board which I shared with Erica. My assignment was to pin colors/images/moods that best represented my brand.
I don’t want to gloss over this part. Digging in and figuring out my mission statement and what I wanted my brand to say was thought-provoking and challenging work! But when the work was done the feeling of understanding what my brand was about is really indescribable. Then Erica translated that vision into my logo--magical.
In the initial stages I proofed colors and fonts and finally logo, business cards, Facebook and Google+ cover photos and profile pictures. I’m in love with it all! It all fits. It all works. You have to see the cover photos that include photos from last summer’s recital--so precious! Are you ready to see the new look? Ta da!!
