About the Teacher

Sarah Richardson is a violist who performs and teaches in Colorado. In a 37-year professional career she has played in 20 orchestras and 4 string quartets in 10 cities. In addition, Mrs. Richardson's 30-year teaching career has included teaching private lessons and public school classes. In 2004 she founded a youth orchestra which she directed until 2010.
Sarah began her Suzuki journey in 2002. Her teachers include Heidi Castleman, Patinka Kopec, Barbara Sudweeks, James Maurer, William Starr, Kathleen Spring, William Preucil, Sr., Betsy Stuen-Walker, Vera McCoy-Sulentic and Sarah Montzka.
Mrs. Richardson currently performs with Opera Colorado, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and the Tiny Tots educational program for preschool children. She retired from the Central City Opera in 2017 after 16 seasons of performing with their summer opera festival.
Her educational associations include Suzuki Association of the Americas, Suzuki Association of Colorado, International Viola Society and American String Teachers Association. Sarah is registered in Every Child Can, Suzuki Principles in Action, Violin Books I - VIII and Viola Books I, IV, VI and VII with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Committed to lifelong learning and to the Suzuki Association of the America's Aspirational Code of Ethics, Mrs. Richardson pursues regular training in the Suzuki method books.
